3rd and 4th Gen VFRs are known for eating Regulator/Rectifiers, and since I have both, I upgraded the R/R on my 4th Gen with newer technology, and I wanted a way to keep an eye on my charging system. This came with long lead wires, and where I mounted it I was able to cut about 2/3rds of the wire off. I attached it to the tail lamp wire at the fuse box, mounted between the steering head and the dash so it is partially hidden but easy to see while riding. Since I attached it to the system that turns on with the key, it turns on and off with the bike, so I don't have to worry about its impact on the battery when the bike is off.
