The wind tunnel-refined shell, executed in a FiberglassDyneemaCarbon matrix, forms a solid first line of defense. Internally, a dual-density EPS core provides critical Energy Management which reduces transmitted impact forces. Of course safety is best maintained by avoiding the crash altogether. To this end, the Variant features a reshaped eyeport which provides enhanced peripheral vision. The Variants unique visor system also contributes to improved vision. When properly designed, such as on the Variant, the visor can help block bright sunlight while producing minimal lift characteristics. Couple this with our Fog-Free coating and it is obvious why the vision aspects of the Variant are superior. Another important method of increasing safety is to reduce rider fatigue. ICON Helmet Var Construct Md 0101-5897 Review

Recently purchased this helmet and I was a bit worried about how it would actually look. Needless to say when the helmet came in and I got my first look at it, I was completely ecstatic. The helmet looks absolutely amazing especially with the dark tinted shield installed.

The helmet is rather comfortable to wear and the sizing is some what neutral to slightly oval in shape if that makes sense. The opening at the bottom of the helmet tends to catch my ears and tug on them but once the helmet is on it fits like a glove. Removing the helmet is a bit of a pain but it will loosen up with a bit of wear.

The colour of the helmet is not actually white as it looks in the pictures, it is more of a dirty white(think beige white or raw fibre glass) If you have ever seen dried glue from a hot glue gun, then that would be similar to the colour. It is not bad just can be a bit misleading if expecting white from looking at the pictures.

Cons:

-the anti fog coating blows on these shields. Everyone say they are the cats meow. Obviously they are riding in nice hot weather and not the weather we get up here in the PNW(rain and cold). This shield started to fog up within a day of riding, now it fogs up all the time. Highly recommend going out an buying some clarity defog drops(not the clothes, they are not worth it)and buffing the interior of the shield with it. You will get about 1-2 weeks of use out of it before you have to do it again, but you will have clear vision and no fog for that time.
-Removing the shield is just silly, they could have came up with a better way to do it.

Overall I would recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a more aggressive street riding look and a different helmet.
