</p>Black Widow Self-Locking Motorcycle Wheel Chock Review
I purchased this Black Widow wheel chock for use in my garage when working on my Yamaha Road Star. My bike has a large front wheel/tire - nominally a 16" rim, but with the 130/90-16 tire, the outside diameter is over 23". The Black Widow is rated for 17-21" wheels, so I set the upper bracket as far to the rear as it would go and the lower cradle as far to the front as it would go; the fit is just right. I also had no problems with the dresser front fender on my Road Star - there's plenty of clearance with the front bracket and lower cradle.I found out on the first try that the rubber feet would not have enough grip on my smooth garage floor to hold the chock in place with my bike's weight (750 lbs) at entry, so I used a 2x10 braced against the back wall of the garage to stabilize the chock and was able to ride straight in. The Black Widow comes with three anchor bolts and holes in the frame for mounting to a floor or trailer deck, but that reduces the main point of this item, its portability. I also don't want to trip over anchor bolts sticking out of my garage floor!
The chock won't hold the bike rock steady, but it will hold the bike up and keep it up when working on the forks, handlebars, and fenders in ways that preclude the use of tie-down straps. For long-term storage or transport, straps are still required for safety. I love the Black Widow and highly recommend it!
