Suomy Open Face Helmet (Jet Light Surf, Large) Review

I'm an avid scooter rider (8K miles on my first scooter) and wanted something special and classy. I had a ZR1 Nolan for several years, but it was getting pretty beat up. I looked for quite a while at a variety of helmets online. This was a bit more than I initially wanted to pay, but I'm glad I did!

The photos don't do it justice, so I've included a few more. The colors are deeper and richer than in the original photo. I checked the weight of helmets and there is wide variety. This one is really lightweight; lighter than the ZR1 by almost a pound, weighing in at 2.5 lbs. The ear flap is removable, zipper a bit tight, had to adjust the liner a bit. The face shield is a nice addition to for my helmet, as I wear glasses and don't have a shield on my scooter.

I did have some trouble with the "quick release" connector. I had to let the strap all the way out to get it to fit comfortably. But the actual release button and process is a bit tricky, I almost panicked, then looked in a mirror and got it undone. As for the fit, it's awesome, really comfortable. Because of the design ("wing" back), I don't feel like a bobbledead in it. Do go with the recommendations and go up a size, Suomy helmets run small. I normally take a large, but the XL fit perfect.
