Arrowhead CDI Box IHA6001 Review
The original ignition module is something that is likely to need replacing on a bike that is over 20 years of age. On a Honda Transalp, these boxes were placed right under the seat in a holder that put extra pressure on the housing. This resulted in early failure on some bikes, and a redesign of the holder which kept the ignition boxes free from pressure. If you have a Transalp you probably know this already. If not, buy the replacement rubber housing before installing your new CDI Boxes. I think Honda now lists and stocks the updated housing for around $18.It was easy to install this CDI Box. Bike fired right up after plugging in the connectors and putting the seat back on.
Arrowhead is the way to go. My guess is that an OEM CDI unit would cost at least double the price of this one, even though Honda used the same engine in many bikes.
